GAZA, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- A Hamas movement militant died on Thursday as he was working in an underground tunnel underneath southern Gaza Strip area of Rafah, the movement's armed wing and medics said.
Medical workers said that Mohammed al-Najjar, 25, from Khan Yunis, died following an incident while he was working in the tunnel, the movement's armed wing said in a statement.
The movement's armed wing gave no further details about the incident.
Al-Najjar is the second Palestinian militant, who died in tunnels this month.
In 2014, Israel waged a large-scale military air and ground offensive on the Gaza Strip, aiming at destroying dozens of tunnels dug underneath the borders between the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave and Israel.
