TEHRAN, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran's first "Chinese Bookshelf," which aims to provide local readers an access to Chinese books, was set up on Thursday in Tehran.
Located inside Shafagh Book House, central urban area of the Iranian capital city, the "China Bookshelf" includes more than 120 kinds of books such as literature, folktale, economic publications and political works, on display and for sale.
Nie Jing, deputy general manager of the China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation, said that the "Chinese Bookshelf" is a major overseas publication promotion project sponsored by Chinese government. So far, such bookselves have been established in eight countries worldwide including Cuba, Thailand, Germany and Canada.
The establishment of the "Chinese Bookshelf" in Iran will help local readers get better understanding of China through reading those books, she said.
Shafagh Book House is a famous book store in Iran, covering an area of 500 square meters and has more than 20,000 kinds of books.
