ARUSHA, Tanzania, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- A French tourist died and his four colleagues from Belgium were injured after their vehicle overturned near western Tanzania's Katavi National Park, police said on Thursday.
Benedictor Mapujilo, acting Katavi Regional Police Commander, said in an interview that the accident occurred around 5 p. m. on Wednesday in an area called Jiwe la Simba on the Sumbawanga-Mpanda road in Mlele District, Katavi Region.
He said that the vehicle overturned as it was heading to the Katavi National Park at Stalike village, according to police officer Mapujilo.
Mapujilo said the French national Alexander Paul was driving the vehicle, a Land Rover pickup with a Burundian registration number.
"The injured tourists have been admitted to Katavi regional referral hospital where they are receiving treatment," he said.
Mapujilo added that the body of the French national was being preserved in the regional hospital pending procedures of transporting it to his country.
The police officer said that the cause of the fatal accident was not yet established and investigation was ongoing. Enditem
