DAMASCUS, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to Syria Qi Qianjin on Wednesday underscored the importance of continuing cooperation between Chinese and Syrian media.
Speaking at the headquarters of the local al-Watan newspaper in Damascus, Qi hailed the ongoing cooperation between the two countries over the past seven years on different levels, including the media cooperation.
"We are interested in this kind of cooperation and want to continue to cooperate in this field. We are thinking of new activities such as exchange of visits for Chinese and Syrian journalists in the future," the Chinese ambassador noted.
Qi made the remarks during a delivery ceremony of computers and cameras, donated by the Chinese embassy, to al-Watan newspaper.
For his part, Waddah Abd Rabbo, editor-in-chief of al-Watan newspaper, said the Syrian media need a continuous support in the face of the challenges throughout the crisis.
"We are keen to have an ongoing cooperation with China," Abd Rabbo said, adding that there should be more news about China for the Syrian audience and vice versa, so that both peoples get to know one another more in terms of the traditions and lifestyles.
